Graphic Designer

The Graphic Designer position reports directly to the Director of Creative Services in the Trade Marketing department at Scholastic. Working with a team of copywriters and designers, the graphic designer is responsible for creating a wide range of materials to promote children’s books for toddlers, middle-grade readers and teens, in support of our marketing, publicity, sales, and conventions teams.

Responsiblities include:

The ideal candidate is creative, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment independently and within a team. The ideal candidate should also be highly organized, detail oriented, and able to multitask. They must be able to execute design solutions based on initial conceptual and visual direction. Excellent typography skills and experience building files to finished production standards using the most current Adobe Creative Suite programs are a must.

Senior Designer

The position reports directly to the Director of Creative Services in the Trade Marketing department. Working with the Creative Director and a team of copywriters and designers, the Senior Designer is responsible for creating a wide range of materials to promote children’s books for toddlers, middle-graders, and teens in support of our marketing, publicity, sales, and conventions teams.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conceive/produce/collaborate great ideas and design based on creative briefs and marketing strategy
  • Lead creative briefings and brainstorming sessions while contributing creative and logistical solutions
  • Develop design concepts independently and collaboratively, working closely with all levels of the creative team, including project managers, and art directors
  • Design a wide variety of print materials, including advertisements, logos, posters, postcards, POP, bookmarks, event invitations, signage, catalogs, and sell sheets
  • Design a variety of digital marketing assets including website banner ads, graphics, and social media posts
  • Prepare print and digital files for production

Publicist

The Publicist will be responsible for publicity campaigns for children’s and young adult book authors/illustrators as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating comprehensive tour schedules,
  • Scheduling travel, arranging media interviews,
  • Writing press materials and pitch letters,
  • Researching media contacts, fulfilling review copy requests.

Senior Manager, Business Strategy and Execution

The STS Business Strategy and Operations Senior Manager will work under the VP of Portfolio Management who works with technology, analytics, and digital teams in support of Scholastic’s 3-year operating profit growth plan.

The person in this role will be responsible for helping to shape and plan margin-expansion efforts across our businesses and support functions, working as part of cross-functional teams. 

The ideal candidate thrives on making an impact in a transformational environment and is comfortable working at a fast-energetic pace. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyze business results and market factors to determine how to best support business unit strategic goals
  • Form project plans and teams to help bring forth new capabilities grounded in technology and data that will result in margin growth, overseeing the execution of projects
  • Facilitate change management efforts when launching new capabilities to our business divisions and customers
  • Support executive updates and communications with the c-suite and board of directors.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with data, breaking down complex problems, have familiarity with company financial statements and how sales, costs, and investments map to those financial statements, experience in building business cases and developing presentations for executive audiences, and a track record of successful project execution. A background in management consulting, strategy and operations roles, or private equity is a plus but not required.

Account Executive, Education Sales (Western Pennsylvania)

We are seeking to hire an energetic Account Executive with educational publishing experience who can partner with schools and communities to extend literacy. Along with classroom books and instructional materials to meet studentsʼ needs, Scholastic Education provides workshops, extensive teaching resources, and works with communities and long-standing literacy partners to ensure that students receive learning support 24/7 and from birth to adulthood.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Achieve assigned goal
  • Serve as the Lead for all identified districts
  • Develop intimate relationships with all stakeholders throughout the accounts
  • Meet with customers to discuss areas of concern and gaps
  • Develop district contacts and cultivate relationships at all levels that enhances Scholastic’s position which leads to major growth within designated accounts
  • Compile account information on organizational structure (parent and subsidiaries), buying process, compensation process, existing products/tools to produce a prospective business report identifying potential business activities necessary to close accounts
  • Maintain regular contact with account base, and increases revenue from positioning and demonstrating new and existing products, preparing appropriate RFPs, and closing the sale
  • Generate, develop, manage, and communicate expectations within assigned accounts as well as increases scope of penetration within each account
  • Qualify new opportunities and prospects, dimensions the size of opportunities and articulates probabilities of closure
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation in company's CRM module for all activity
  • Maintain broad knowledge of company products and their capabilities versus the strengths/weaknesses of competitive products
  • Travel up to 60%

Technical Lead, Integration Services

Scholastic is seeking a Technical Lead of Integration Services at Scholastic. The person in this role will be working in a fast-paced environment with business and technology groups. The role requires a self-starter who is passionate about education and technologies. He or she must be able to task manage and prioritize activities efficiently and effectively communicate expectations and timelines in a timely and clear fashion and have strong written communication skills. The individual should have experience managing teams, influencing without direct authority, and leading a team of engineers. The role requires design skills, sound judgment, and the ability to establish strong working relationships with business stakeholders and product owners.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Make architecture and design decisions as it affects the area of integration
  • Work with business and product owners to build the next generation shared services platform serving multiple lines of business, products, markets, and geographies
  • Assisting in the requirements collection and analysis, software design, development, troubleshooting, implementation and enhancement of new and existing software
  • Contributing your expertise to support our engineering best practices standards.
  • Mentor, grow and retain the team
