Director, Cross Channel Marketing, eScholastic (Location: New York, NY)

The Director of Cross-Channel Marketing will lead the programs that drive growth in new customer acquisition, customer retention and sales per customer, yielding improved customer lifetime value. By implementing cross-channel projects, using results to drive new initiatives, and providing insightful recommendations, the person in this position will play a pivotal role in continually improving the company's sales and marketing results.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead cross-channel marketing efforts, including corporate marketing planning and implementation, to drive qualified traffic and improve sales
  • Manage customer and prospect contact strategies via email, mobile, display, social media, and additional marketing channels to ensure continuity and improved results
  • Drive company use of the rapidly evolving e-commerce techniques to improve customer integration and prospect identification
  • Develop customer segmentation and scoring systems to generate effective cross-channel marketing activities
  • Use marketing and sales analysis to improve results from company mailings, marketing programs, and sales initiatives
  • Develop modeling capabilities and analysis around customer segmentation, conversion and attrition analysis, lifetime value, and lifecycle campaign management, response and optimization

Principal Software Engineer (Location: New York, NY)

Scholastic is looking for a hands-on expert with strong technical skills who can provide thought leadership in the areas of Solr capabilities, including indexing, configuration and optimization for Scholastic’s web properties. The person in this role will design, build and support business requirements around SOLR/Lucene search engine and SEO. Candidates should have a solid understanding of overall search architecture, including design and implementation of user interface changes for search solutions using HTML5, JavaScript, and Open Source JavaScript frameworks.

Qualifications and Key Responsibilities Include: 

  • Practical, hands-on knowledge of Solr
  • Knows Schema.xml, solrconfig.xml, dismax, tie parameter, and optimization
  • Strong knowledge of Lucene API, taxonomy and search optimization techniques
  • Adept at programming in Java, and has experience with ETLs
  • Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for search optimization across Scholastic’s web and content properties
  • Determines and develops architectural approaches and solutions, conducts business reviews, documents current systems and develops recommendations of how to proceed with the applications
  • Evaluates existing or proposed systems for the business, and devises computer systems and related procedures to solve the business need
  • Devises or modifies procedures to solve problems considering system(s) capacity and limitations, operation time, and form of desired results
