Goosebumps

A fright-filled day

Tomorrow is Halloween! That means we spent our day today:

A. getting some social media spooks with R.L. Stine

B. eating Halloween-themed cupcakes

C. watching scary book trailers on YouTube

D. all of the above!

It's true -- today we've done all of those things. R.L. Stine took over our social media accounts, which was great fun -- we'll share a recap later this week! I brought in some baked goods, which were pretty yummy, if I do say so myself. And Megan has been sending around links to some of the scariest book trailers on our YouTube channel! Here are some favorites:

Watching scary book trailers led us to talking about our favorite scary movies, of course. I love, love, love scary movies; a few weeks ago I added a ton of scary flicks to my Netflix queue, only I just realized I've only gotten around to watching one of them so far. Yikes. I guess I know what I'll be watching tonight...

How do you get in the Halloween spirit?

Goosebumps from around the world

I’m Matt, the editor of Goosebumps. You might already know that in the newest Goosebumps books R.L. Stine has been writing about the Most Wanted Goosebumps villains of all time. But did you also know that Goosebumps aren’t just popular in America? They’re wanted all over the world.

In the spirit of Halloween (the MOST Goosebumps-y time of the year) and as we prepare for this Wednesday's social media takeover by R.L. Stine, we wanted to share some photos of the Goosebumps books from around the world. Which one's your favorite?

Check out Goosebumps on Facebook for more fun! See you Wednesday...

Get spooked! R.L. Stine will take over Scholastic's social media on October 30

It's a time-honored tradition, and it's back!

Two years ago we invited R.L. Stine, that master of all things spooky (and the bestselling author of the Goosebumps series) to take over our social media channels on Halloween. It was wildly successful, a ton of fun, and just a little bit creepy! Last year, he was all set to do it again, but Hurricane Sandy struck and thwarted our plans.

We're so excited to have him back this year! Join us on October 30 from 2-3pm ET on the following platforms and at #goosebumps for some spine-tingling fun!

The Official Goosebumps Facebook page and R.L. Stine's personal Twitter account will also get in on the action, so be sure to follow along!

R.L. Stine will be posting prompts, jokes, photos, and videos to get fans in the Halloween spirit, and will answer fan-submitted questions, so get 'em ready. We'll also have the editor of Goosebumps, Matt Ringler, in the room, and he's promised to bring some cool, old-school Goosebumps merchandise to show off.

And did I mention we'll be giving away 10 signed copies of Goosebumps books to participating fans? :)

Be prepared to be scared! (But mostly just entertained!)

Unmask your favorite original Goosebumps cover!

Don’t judge a book by its cover! Or, so they say. Everyone loves Goosebumps for its spine-tingling stories of dramatic twists and fascinating monsters that love to scare. When Goosebumps first came out, the series not only got a generation of kids to just read—but to LOVE reading! More than 20+ years later, fans just can’t get enough of Goosebumps!

Fans often agree that the original books are as terrifyingly terrific as the stories themselves! The covers tease our imaginations and provide an indelible image of the scares that lurk inside the pages of the book. Some of them were just outright creepy (Night of the Living Dummy, anyone?), but no matter whether a cover gave you goosebumps (literally), captivated you or made you do a double-take, the excitement of reading a Goosebumps book was undeniable.

In this season of goblins and ghouls, we want to know from YOU, the fans, which book cover from the original series is your favorite. Show us using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Pinterest! We’ll be looking out for your favorite on social media all month long and will reveal the most popular cover from the original series on Halloween. So, whether you devoured the books in the dark of night, have a collection still stashed under your bed, or are sharing them with the next generation of Goosebumps fans, join us in unmasking your favorite Goosebumps cover!
