Holiday Gift Guide: Teachers' Top Picks

Our friends at Book Box Daily, Scholastic Reading Club's official blog, have provided some great holidays gift guides this week to help parents, teachers and more find the perfect book for the child in their life.

Be sure to check out our Scholastic Reading Club Editor's "top picks" all this week - including special book picks list for younger kids and older readers.

Today, we asked Scholastic Reading Club teachers their favorites for the holiday season.

All of these great picks are currently available in special Holiday Gift Books flyer from Scholastic Reading Club  - featuring great picks for Hanukkah (I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Dreidel), Christmas (The First Christmas Night), Kwanzaa (K is for Kwanzaa) and more.

Teachers: Today is the LAST DAY to submit your classroom's Scholastic Reading Club orders to guarantee a December 18th delivery before the holiday break.

Happy holidays.

From Book Box Daily - "Holiday Picks from Teachers"

We recently heard the rhyming suggestion that holiday gifts for children should cover four categories:

A gift they want
A gift they need
A gift to wear
A gift to read

We’re not qualified to say what the children in your life might want, might need, or should wear, but we do have some suggestions about books they can read! We asked teachers what books they’re gifting this year, and here’s what they told us!

  • Christi in Missouri told us, “I’m giving the illustrated Harry Potter and the Hunger Games propaganda set to my daughters!
  • Valerie from Tennessee will be giving copies of Diary of a Wimpy Kid Old School.
  • Meredith teaches preschool in New York and she’ll be giving her students a class favorite, Dragons Love Tacos.
  • Cerise in Montana said, “Laura Ingalls Wilder … Real old school!!”
  • Casi is an elementary school teacher and said, “Each of my students are getting books from Scholastic Reading Club! My husband is getting the illustrated version of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, my 5 year old is getting more sets of the BOB books, and my 2 year old is getting a farm animal book. We’re all about reading!!!”
  • Unfortunately, Ms. Colon has #middleschoolproblems and said, “I wish I could afford to get all 130 of my kiddies wonderful books!
  • Dani told us she’s, “Gifting my students Flip and Flop and If You Give a Dog a Donut, both Scholastic Reading Club picks!”

What books will you be gifting this year? What books do you hope to receive?

You can find these great gift books and dozens more in Reading Club flyers and online now!
