What's it like to intern at Scholastic?

As August rolls forward, our summer interns begin leaving us to head back to their respective college campuses. Stephanie Agresti, one of our Corporate Communications interns, shares her reflections on her internship below. After today, she's off to complete her senior year at The College of New Jersey (my alma mater!). Thanks for a great summer, Stephanie!

What's the most surprising thing you learned/uncovered during your summer internship?

Stephanie: During my summer at Scholastic, I learned that people really do want you to succeed. I’ve heard peers say that the workplace can be very cutthroat, but I’ve come to find that there are people who enjoy encouraging one another. And I’ve been lucky enough to meet many of them this summer!

What book did you read as a result of hearing about it at Scholastic?

Hearing my co-workers talk about books they re-read often made me want to revisit a book I had last read when I was thirteen. Reading Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick as an adult reminded me of all the things I valued as a kid and all of the things I continue to value today.  Now that I’ll have more free time, I’m looking forward to reading a bunch of YA books that were given to me this summer!

What's next for you?

I’m looking forward to heading back to The College of New Jersey for my senior year!  After graduation, I cannot wait to begin a career in Public Relations.
