Throwing back to 1891

It's Thursday, you know what that means! Time for a little TBT. We're throwing back to 1891 today with a look back at vintage covers from Scholastic's Instructor Magazine.

Before we do, here's a little bit more about the publication. Started in 1891, Instructor is the oldest magazine for teachers in the country, serving K-8 educators with lesson plan ideas, professional learning, classroom management strategies, craft how-to's, advice from fellow teachers and experts, and good old fashioned encouragement. Learn more about the magazine and browse its exceptional content here.

Let's dive in to the archives! Here's the first (the first!) cover of Instructor from 1891, back when it was called Normal Instructor.

Here are three covers from the 50's and 60's (aren't they lovely?) along with the latest cover of the 2015 Back to School issue.
