In Our Feeds: J.K. Rowling, Mockingjay, infographics, and more

Each Friday, we share a handful of links we found interesting, provocative, funny — or just plain cool. We call it In Our Feeds. Have a good weekend!

This was a big week for fans of The Hunger Games and Harry Potter series. On Monday, Lionsgate rallied fans excited for Mockingjay: Part 2 to tweet #UnlockMockingjay, search binary code, and dig through HTML to discover a deleted scene from Mockingjay: Part 1. For Harry Potter fans, Buzzfeed put out a list titled “21 Times Harry Potter Was The Cleverest Book Series Ever” with examples like: “3. The entrance to Dumbledore’s office…is literally a Griffin door.” Also, Buzzfeed posted a letter from J.K. Rowling to a young boy named Johnnie that might be worth breaking out the tissues for.

In other book news, Gina and Michael sent me news that a new Dr. Seuss book will be published in July titled What Pet Should I Get? Though the author passed away in 1991, many old manuscripts have be discovered by his widow, Audrey Geisel. Michael also shared this post from Mental Floss listing “10 Things You Might Not Know About Maurice Sendak” that’s worth checking out.

For those of you who love infographics, Michael and Brittany stumbled upon these two: The Opposite Habits of Famous Writers, pairing writers from history passed and their strange habits with other writers with the same habits, and A Plotting of Fiction Genres, which is basically a guide through the labyrinth of literary fiction. They are fascinating.
