In Our Feeds: Bookworm struggles, Joan Didion, the future of libraries and more

Each Friday, we share a handful of links we found interesting, provocative, funny — or just plain cool. We call it In Our Feeds. Have a good weekend!

It’s been a very busy week here at Scholastic! We just launched our Kids and Family Reading Report™, 5th edition this past Thursday. Be sure to check out the latest research about the state of kids and reading. It covers a range of topics including: what makes a kid a frequent reader, reading aloud at home, independent reading time at school and more.

Speaking of frequent readers, Brittany sent me a very funny article about the “Weird struggles only bookworms truly understand.” You won’t believe the number of times I have missed my subway stop when I was reading a great book.

Have you ever wanted a Joan Didion jacket? Well, here’s your chance! Gina sent me this article featured in Paper Magazine. It’s a bit expensive, but you will be the talk-of-the-town at your next book club meeting.

Nadia sent me a very interesting article about the future of public libraries. Do you agree? Will the public library of the 21st century encourage “digital fluency”?

This debate continues with an article (sent by Deimosa) asking, “What is a library?
