Open a World of Possible

On this International Literacy Day, we're starting something new: a movement to help children become lifelong independent readers. We call it Open a World of Possible, and we invite you to #sharepossible with us.

As part of today's launch, we have some huge news: Scholastic has partnered with global entertainment icon Usher to host a webcast about sharing the joy of reading for teachers and students this November! You can read more about the webcast in this exclusive from Entertainment Weekly!

There are so many ways you can get involved and #sharepossible, too:

  • Get your copy of Open a World of Possible: Real Stories About the Joy and Power of Reading, an anthology of stories from more than 100 of the country’s foremost literacy experts about their personal connection to reading. The ebook is available for free—download it here!
  • Follow us on social media for all the latest #SharePossible!
  • On your own social media accounts, use #SharePossible whenever you're talking about books and reading, education and parenting! Tell us about how reading can Open a World of Possible for you and the people in your life, and share posts, pictures, and videos with your tips and advice on how you find time to build more reading into your days.
  • Watch the new Open a World of Possible video, narrated by Sarah Jessica Parker and written by Sojourner Ahebee, one of the 2013 National Student Poets (a program of the President's Committee on the Arts & the Humanities, the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards), available here.

How will you #SharePossible today?
