Yesterday we announced our 33rd classroom magazine title: Storyworks Jr. It's a language-arts magazine tailored especially to third grade classrooms. We heard from hundreds of teachers who loved Storyworks, the magazine for grades 4-6, and they told us that they needed a great language-arts resource for their third graders that was just as exciting as Storyworks -- you asked, we listened!
Third grade is a critical year for literacy instruction, and studies have shown that kids who fall behind in that year are more likely to face challenges later on. You can read an interview with Lauren Tarshis, Editorial Director of Storyworks and Storyworks Jr., on edu@scholastic to learn more about the background of the new title.
Fortune.com also published a great look into why our classroom magazines are thriving in a difficult time for the industry. They spoke with Lauren about the magazines and why teachers and students love to read them!
