We asked Dan Poblocki, the author of Shadow House, to share with us some of his inspiration for creating the world of Shadow House—a world of mysterious powers, girls in mirrors, unexplained fires, and creepy-crawlies that keep you up at night. Dan took over Scholastic's Instagram account yesterday, revealing some must-see images for anyone who's interested in things that go bump in the night!
See how it all went down...
We've got Dan Poblocki, author of Shadow House #1: The Gathering, taking over our Instagram account today! He's showing us things that inspired him during writing #ShadowHouse -- and things that creeped him out. He says, "These ruins of a mansion in the woods outside Cold Spring, NY were eerily similar to what I imagined while writing Shadow House. This chimney, with fireplaces stacked one on the other rising high over my head, was only one of many. It might have taken only one stray spark for the place to burn down!" - DP #books #bookstagram #
"They say #London is one of the most haunted cities in the world. What looks like a full moon in the sky is actually a little orb floating near Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square. Strangely, it wasn't there when I snapped the photo. Maybe Admiral Nelson had a little admirer..." -- Dan Poblocki, author of #shadowhouse
Dan Poblocki, the author of #shadowhouse, shares one more piece of inspiration! He says, "This doll was watching me while I was strolling through the East Village in NYC. I was tempted to bring him home to join my collection of creepy toys. But then I remembered everything I wrote about the creepy dolls in Shadow House, and I decided to leave him there to haunt someone else." . Thanks for all the creepy pics, Dan!
