Award News at ALA Midwinter

Forget the Golden Globes, the following awards have just been announced at ALA Midwinter! A huge congratulations to all of our winners:

NEWBERY HONOR: Echo by Pam Muñoz Ryan
The John Newbery Medal honors the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.

STONEWALL BOOK AWARD (MIDDLE GRADE): George by Alex Gino
The Stonewall Book Award - Mike Morgan & Larry Romans Children’s & Young Adult Literature Award is given annually to English-language works of exceptional merit for children or teens relating to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender experience. 

STONEWALL BOOK AWARD (YOUNG ADULT): The Porcupine of Truth by Bill Konigsberg (Arthur A. Levine Books)
TheStonewall Book Award - Mike Morgan & Larry Romans Children’s & Young Adult Literature Award is given annually to English-language works of exceptional merit for children or teens relating to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender experience.

ANDREW CARNEGIE MEDAL: That Is Not a Good Idea by Mo Willems (Weston Woods)
The Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Children's Video honors the most outstanding video productions for children released during the previous year.

ODYSSEY HONOR: Echo by Pam Muñoz Ryan
The Odyssey Award is given to the producer of the best audiobook produced for children and/or young adults, available in English in the United States.  

MARGARET A. EDWARDS AWARD: David Levithan (The Realm of Possibility, Boy Meets Boy, Love is the Higher Law, How They Met, and Other Stories, Wide Awake, and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist)
The Margaret A. Edwards Award, established in 1988, honors an author, as well as a specific body of his or her work, for significant and lasting contribution to young adult literature. (David serves as editorial director and VP at Scholastic!)
