As of today, kids have read over 40 million minutes in the Summer Reading Challenge! (Picking my jaw up off the floor.) Their relentless minute logging has unlocked two of our twelve stories on the website, Wendy Wan-Long Shang's A Kick in the Teeth and Varian Johnson's Eugene Takes a Holiday.
Not only did author Varian Johnson write an original short story for kids, he's also one of the featured school prizes. The middle school that logs the most minutes get a special visit from the author himself! To get kids even more inspired to read once school is out, Varian recorded this message for kids. Enjoy!
