This past Saturday in New York City, Scholastic teamed up with Bryant Park to host a fun summer reading event for kids.
To kickoff the opening of Bryant Park’s Reading Room "Word for Word" children events, the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge got kids to "Power Up & Read" and gave kids the chance to meet a few familiar faces along the way.
Kids (and "kids at heart") had the chance to climb aboard The Magic School Bus® - an interactive, hands-on traveling science museum. Within two hours, over 450 people got a chance to relive the magic of Ms. Frizzle's zany, educational field trips.
The event also included Ms. Frizzle hosting a special outdoor story time and read aloud "The Magic School Bus and the Electric Field Trip" to an eager audience.
In addition, Energizer®, the sponsor of this year's Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge, offered resources for parents on how to recycle items such as batteries in the New York City area and provided kids some fun color activities and crafts. Kids were elated to see the Energizer Bunny®, leading to numerous photos with the iconic bunny.
