Last Tuesday in Las Vegas, Nevada, the five Democratic presidential candidates took to the stage for their first debate, presented by CNN at the Wynn hotel.
While former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, former Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee, and former Virginia Senator Jim Webb discussed the most pressing issues facing our country today, our Scholastic News Kid Reporter was behind-the-scenes!
Chloe Nguyen, a 14 year old student in Las Vegas, hung out in the “Spin Room” during the debate where she got a glimpse into the debate’s central media center. While on site, Chloe interviewed former mayor of Los Angeles Antonio Villaraigosa and asked Lincoln Chafee what he would do to ensure a better future for kids in the United States.
