Last week at Scholastic Headquarters in SoHo, New York, the nonprofit Alliance for Young Artists & Writers hosted the second annual Art.Write.Now.POP-UP! – a flash residency for Scholastic Art & Writing Awards alumni in celebration of the 2015 Awards call for submissions.
This unique week-long artistic experience took place in the front window of the Scholastic building, looking out onto Broadway, and featured San Francisco artist and Awards alum Harrison Love. Love wasted no time transforming the main display window into his own art studio, complete with print making, mirrors, prisms and video projection. This one-of-a-kind installation, titled “Love Spectrum,” stopped passersby in their tracks! Visit the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Facebook page to see some of Harrison Love’s work from throughout the week!
If you missed the POP-UP, take a look at Harrison Love’s recent interview with Street Art NYC.
“[The residency] was amazing! It gave me the encouragement I needed to continue to be creative and to establish a career as a visual artist. Scholastic also continues to give me a sense of community. And as so many of us artists tend to be loners, this is something that we need,” explained Love to the art blog.
