As part of the Scholastic Summer Read-a-Palooza, independent bookstores and libraries are hosting Summer Reading Celebrations nationwide to bring communities together in the spirit of giving back while encouraging every child to keep reading!
Some events have featured special appearances by Clifford the Big Red Dog and Dav Pilkey’s Dog Man. Others have featured activities, photo ops, and giveaways, and all include one very important piece – a Scholastic Read-a-Palooza Summer Reading Give Back book drive box.
Locations hosting a Summer Reading Celebrations are collecting new or lightly used books from attendees as part of the Scholastic Read-a-Palooza Summer Reading Give Back. Then, they’ll donate these books to a local charity partner of choice.
