Pictures Books You Won't Want to Miss in Spring 2021

Spring is always the season of new beginnings, resolutions, and reading goals!

Scholastic is proud to have new books that will inspire, inform, and affirm. Our Spring 2021 Online Preview highlights our upcoming books featuring videos from our authors and Scholastic colleagues.

Follow along for the next few weeks as we share more about all the books featured in the Online Preview and enter for a chance to win advanced reading copies from this amazing season. Keep reading to the bottom for more details.

Simultaneously telling stories through art and words, this season includes a moving reflection on immigration from author Mượn Thị Văn and illustrator Victo Ngai, a brand new story from Giraffes Can’t Dance creators Giles Andreae and Guy Parker-Rees, Super Bowl champion and literacy advocate Malcolm Mitchell’s very favorite book in the whole wide world, and more!

But first, we’d like to introduce you to two very special books.

In Little Blue Bridge, Ruby wants some blueberries and when she sets off to pick some with her brothers, they find the bridge blocked by a bully. Undeterred, Ruby builds her own bridge and teaches everyone a lesson on friendship and community.

Inspired by model, actress, and Down syndrome advocate Sofia Sanchez, You Are Enough reminds readers that we all belong and that being different is what makes you YOU! Beautifully illustrated with a full cast of kid characters with all kinds of backgrounds, experiences, and abilities, this book reminds readers how important it is to embrace your differences, be confident, and be proud of who you are.

Here’s the entire list:

  • Little Blue Bridge by Brenda Maier & Sonia Sanchez

  • You Are Enough by Margaret O'Hair, Sofia Sanchez, & Sofia Cardosa

  • Free to Be Elephant Me by Giles Andreae & Guy Parker-Rees

  • The Little Butterfly That Could by Ross Burach

  • My Favorite Book in the Whole Wide World by Malcolm Mitchell & Michael Robertson
