Every Friday, we share a handful of links that we found funny, provocative or just plain cool. We call it In Our Feeds. Have a great weekend!
This week at Scholastic, OOMers shared some funny and inspiring content from across the web—including great videos! Gina noticed a New York Times video featuring Toni Morrison, “one of the greatest authors in American history.” Deimosa, on the other hand, loved a stop motion video from the Omaha Public Library titled “Every Hero Has a Story,” featuring Harry Potter, Pete the Cat, Batman, minions and more. Pretty impressive!
Question: When you’re watching your favorite shows, have you ever noticed the books that TV characters are reading? Nadia found this interesting article from The Guardian titled, “Why did we see Don Draper reading Dante’s Inferno in Mad Men?” You’ll have to read to find out.
Speaking of TV and film, Nadia also learned about the Sonnet Project in New York City. This project is currently working to create a short film for each of Shakespeare’s 154 sonnets. “It brings Shakespeare to people who might not be in touch with it, and we can use social media like Twitter and Instagram to spread the word,” explained Billy Magnussen in the News York Times.
Also this week, Megan read a beautiful piece on Louisiana and its rich literary history while Morgan spotted this hilarious Mashable article about a kid who wrote an apology after puking in a bookstore. Lastly, here’s some interesting reads to get you through the weekend:
