In Our Feeds: Reading resolutions, best literary feasts, and more

Every Friday, we share a handful of links that we found funny, provocative or just plain cool. We call it In Our Feeds. Have a great weekend!

This week we said goodbye to Norman Bridwell, beloved creator of Clifford the Big Red Dog, who passed away at age 86. You can read a tribute from our CEO and President Dick Robinson here, or check out this story from NPR which includes an audio report featuring Norman from Clifford’s 50th birthday.

2015 is rapidly approaching, which means it’s time to start thinking about resolutions and goals for the New Year. Why not set a reading goal for yourself? The folks at Book Riot have done just that, with a Read Harder Challenge for 2015. Are you up for the challenge?

The New York Public Library released their top 100 children’s books of 2014 and Scholastic is well-represented. Did any of your favorite titles of ours make the list?

Just in time for Christmas next week, BuzzFeed has compiled 20 magical Christmas books to read aloud, which are sure to get everyone into the holiday spirit!

Besides spending time with family, gift exchanges, and fun seasonal tunes, another great aspect of the holidays is the food! Grab a snack and check out this list of the top 10 best feasts in children’s books. (The spread at Great Hall at Hogwarts immediately springs to mind!)

Sorry, selfie: the dictionary Merriam-Webster has named “culture” their word of the year!

A previously unknown copy of The First Folio by Shakespeare was found recently in a French library. Slate explores how the playwright became a legend, after receiving some not-so-great reviews from his peers when he was alive and writing.

And finally, here are some more fun links we found this week about Harry Potter, the Baby-Sitters Club, and more! Enjoy!
