Now Accepting Kid Reporter Applications for Scholastic Kids Press

Know a kid with a talent for writing and a passion for journalism? Encourage them to apply to Scholastic Kids Press! We’re now accepting Kid Reporter applications for the 2021–2022 program year. To be considered for the program, kids must be between the ages of 10–14 (born on or between September 1, 2007, and August 31, 2011).

During their time in the program, Scholastic Kid Reporters report “news for kids, by kids,” covering the issues and topics that matter most to them and their peers. This past academic year, Kid Reporters interviewed newsmakers such as restaurateur Danny Meyer, the cast of The Babysitters Club, and constitutional law scholar and Harvard professor Laurence Tribe, and wrote about major national and global events, including the United States presidential election and the COVID-19 pandemic.

To apply, kids must complete and submit:

  • An original news article
  • Two story ideas
  • A personal essay explaining why they want to be a Kid Reporter

To learn more about Scholastic Kids Press and download the application, visit: www.scholastic.com/kidspress. All applications must be received by June 1, 2021.

Please note that due to the large volume of applications Scholastic receives each year, we will only contact students who are selected to join the program. Students who are selected to join the program will be notified in Fall 2021.
