Digital Art Director, Scholastic Classroom Magazines

Scholastic Classroom Magazines is seeking an ambitious UI/Visual Designer who thrives in a small, cross-functional, and collaborative environment. This position requires superb design skills, an eye for typography, and a flexible outlook when it comes to working creatively with an editorial team. We are looking for a reliable designer with excellent communication skills, a detail-oriented approach, and consistent execution. The position reports to the Director of Digital Classroom Magazines.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working from the UX team’s wireframes to produce polished visual design comps;
  • Creating and evolving the visual design language for the division’s products while maintaining awareness of the larger ecosystem of product and design standards;
  • Presenting design concepts to stakeholders;
  • Working with current branding to develop new products for Scholastic Classroom Magazines.

Account Executive, Education Sales (Los Angeles, CA)

We are seeking to hire an energetic Account Executive with prior educational publishing experience who can partner with schools and communities to extend literacy.   

In the classroom, after school, in the community, and at home, Scholastic Classroom and Community reinforces learning everywhere a child meets a caring adult. Our mission is to provide young people with access to text that is relevant and engaging, while supporting content area learning and information literacy that ensures the highest levels of student achievement. Along with classroom books and instructional materials to meet students’ needs, Scholastic Education provides workshops, extensive teaching resources, and works with communities and long-standing literacy partners to ensure that students receive learning support 24/7 and from birth to adulthood.

Responsibilities include:

  • Achieving assigned goals;
  • Serving as the lead for all identified districts;
  • Developing intimate relationships with all stakeholders throughout the accounts;
  • Meeting with customers to discuss areas of concern and gaps;
  • Developing district contacts and cultivating relationships at all levels to enhance Scholastic’s position and create major growth within designated accounts;
  • Compiling account information on organizational structure (parent and subsidiaries), buying process, compensation process, existing products/tools to produce a prospective business report identifying potential business activities necessary to close accounts.

Vice President, Academic Planning and Solution Development

The Vice President of Academic Planning and Solution Development will be responsible for driving and supporting quarterly and annual Education revenue goals. The role is a key leader that will oversee a team of literacy specialists charged with supporting field sales in driving revenue through solution selling activities. This person must have extensive literacy content knowledge in order to support the team in positioning Scholastic’s comprehensive literacy solutions, as well as make priority recommendations to ensure self-sustaining literacy achievement within school districts, state partnership organizations, and communities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and overseeing a team that supports the development of systemic comprehensive literacy plans and balanced literacy frameworks (e.g., content knowledge of balanced literacy, knowledge and use of literacy and implementation data, identifying key instructional best practices);
  • Collaborating with SVP, RVP, RD’s and AE’s on identified key strategic accounts to drive significant revenue;
  • Presenting solution specific and data leveraged presentations to key district leadership and stakeholders;
  • Creating customized solutions to meet multi-tiered needs of district partners.

Digital Marketing Manager

Scholastic Teachables is a digital subscription product for that contains over 20,000 downloadable resources for every grade and subject.

Teacher Resources offers Teaching resources, children's and teacher books, lesson plans, book lists, classroom resources, educational products from Scholastic for PreK - 12 teachers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with the Director of Marketing to plan and execute all digital marketing, including: email, social media, display, website, scholastic.com, SEM, and internal ad campaigns for acquisition & retention, and Winback with a focus on the Teacher market;
  • Writing and developing copy and design and/or the creative briefs for each of the above mentioned campaigns for both Teacher (and sometimes Parent) markets;
  • Managing the copy and design approval process for all assets created and is the main point person for the designated designer;
  • Working with internal teams and/or outside agencies for email, social media, SEM, and display network campaigns;
  • Developing and managing marketing calendar and scheduling for each channel.

Principal Cloud Based Data Engineering Manager

Scholastic is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to lead ongoing development of the Scholastic Data Cloud (SDC). The candidate will demonstrate a successful track record of thought leadership and management skills coupled with deep experience engineering and managing cloud-based data platforms. The ideal candidate will be distinguished not only by their experience working in a cloud-based, multi-tenant environment, but also by high levels of creativity, passion, and thought leadership.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the Scholastic Data Cloud (SDC) development effort focusing on scalability, quality and performance;
  • Managing a team of data engineers located both on and off shore;
  • Serving as the organization’s expert on SDC platform technologies and architecture;
  • Performing employee performance reviews and regular one-on-one sessions;
  • Performing code reviews.

Senior Systems Manager, Data Acquisition
