Meet board book author/illustrator Joyce Wan (plus, a giveaway!)

How do you celebrate the publication of an adorable bedtime-themed board book full of gentle language, twinkling stars and cozy, smiley pillows lolling in window nooks or tucked into beds?

There are plenty of ways, but we thought of two in particular. First, see below for our interview with Joyce Wan—author and illustrator of the newly published Good Night, Sweetie—where she discusses her own bedtime routines, putting her toddler to sleep, and the books that left the biggest impression when she was a sleepy little girl.

Second, enter our “Sweet Dreams Start with Sweet Reads!” contest to win ten books from Joyce’s board book collection—plus a cute tote to carry them around in.

See below for both the interview and the contest!

What was your favorite book to read at bedtime when you were little?

Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein or anything by Dr. Seuss.

Do you have a bedtime ritual now? What is it?

I’m a night owl. I enjoy drawing and writing late at night when everyone is asleep and the world is quiet. So, many nights, I’m working till I start to doze off and then I crawl into bed and fall right to sleep.

You have a little one of your own! Do you have any tips for putting toddlers to bed?

Yes, lots of patience. Following the same evening routine helps too. I also love our starry night light projector and a white noise machine.

What’s the most recent dream you remember having?

I have this recurring dream where I’m back in middle school and I can’t find my classes.

Click here to enter to win ten Joyce Wan board books (including Good Night, Sweetie) and here to read the full rules. The contest is open from Sept 18 – to Sept 22. No purchase is necessary, and you must be thirteen or older to enter. Good luck!
