All month, Maya & Miguel will be on OOM weekly to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! First up: cooking with Abuela!
¡Hola! It’s me, Maya! Every year, I am excited when Hispanic Heritage Month comes around, because my family and I spend the time celebrating our favorite traditions! The month kicked off with Mexican Independence Day on September 16.
My Abuela moved to the United States from Mexico, and still loves to celebrate it. Our family has a big party and we invite all of our amigos over—Mexican or not! We dance around to great music and play soccer in the backyard. Then Abuela and I make one of my favorite foods—Mexican fajitas! They’re so fun and easy to make. Everyone gathers around to make their fajitas and eat. Miguel likes to arrange the red and green peppers and the sour cream into the Mexican flag, but I start eating right away. ¡Muy delicioso!
