It’s Official: Call for Kid Reporter Applications Opens on March 20, 2023

Mark your calendars because one week from today Scholastic Kids Press will be opening its 2023-2024 call for Kid Reporter applications! If you know a kid between the ages of 10-14 with a nose for the news, a passion for writing, and an interest in covering the issues that matter most to kids, encourage them to apply to this award-winning program.

Since 2000, Scholastic Kid Reporters have been writing “news for kids, by kids”, reporting on topics ranging from politics to entertainment at both a local and national level. This past academic year, Kid Reporters interviewed changemakers such as Malala Yousafzai, United States Poet Laureate Ada Limón, and even attended national events like The White House Christmas tree lighting. Their stories are published online and in issues of Scholastic Magazines+, which reach over 25 million students in classrooms across the country.

Keep an eye out for this year’s Kid Reporter application, going live on March 20th, and learn more about the program and application criteria at: www.scholastic.com/kidspress. All applications must be submitted by June 1, 2023.

In the meantime, kids can embark on their journalism journey through Reporting the News, a free journalism resource from Scholastic that will help sharpening students reporting skills and fostering media literacy. To access the resource for either at-home or in-school learning, visit: www.scholastic.com/reportingthenews.

Keep up with the current class of Kid Reporters on the Scholastic Kids Press blog, and on Instagram and Twitter (@kidspress).
