On Wednesday, February 3rd, we marked the 12th annual World Read Aloud Day!
The initiative from Scholastic and the global literacy nonprofit LitWorld calls attention to the importance of sharing stories and creating meaningful learning experiences for kids and families. This year, we teamed up with football champion and literacy advocate Malcolm Mitchell for a special celebration featuring his latest title, My Very Favorite Book in the Whole Wide World. To help kids create and build their home libraries, Scholastic is also donating 10,000 books to Malcolm Mitchell’s Share the Magic Foundation.
Teachers, librarians, authors, and readers across the globe took to social media to share their favorite #WorldReadAloudDay moments. Check them out below:

I love this idea - especially as a Librarian. Miss Janssen has a picture of every book she has read to them or they read on their own and passed a reading quiz. It’s beautiful! @115yis #WorldReadAloudDay pic.twitter.com/BGxRmnLtMe— Laura Kania (@LivePMA) February 3, 2021
