I’m Jessica Young, the author of the Fairylight Friends Acorn series for early readers, illustrated by Marie Vanderbemden. In the series, Ruby, Iris, and Pip are friends who discover their fairy magic and explore Fairy Forest with their teacher Ms. Goldwing.
In A Magic Spark, the first book in the series, Ruby, Iris, and Pip learn that every fairy has a special kind of magic. They take a trip to Crystal Pool and each of them sees a different picture in the water—a clue to their own magic power.
I believe we all have magic powers—things we love to do that can make the world a better place. I’ve always loved using my imagination, thinking up ideas, and making stuff. I discovered the magic of writing after I had my first child and wrote a book for him. If I looked into Crystal Pool, I think I might see a picture of a pen.
