Clifford the Big Red Dog takes a trip out west

Everyone could use a vacation once in a while--especially Clifford the Big Red Dog. With so many BIG things happening for him, a much-needed road trip was in order. Clifford sent us a re-cap of his adventure by way of Scholastic Media's Danielle Klimashousky. You can check out the original photos from Clifford's trip on his official Instagram account. Take it away, Clifford!

I just returned from a trip to Arizona and Nevada, and wow – were they different from Birdwell Island! Driving through the desert in Arizona, all I could see were cacti, sand, and mountains. The weather was hot and dry; I missed the cool water around Birdwell.

When we got to the Grand Canyon, I was amazed to see something so BIG – and that’s coming from me! The Grand Canyon is so deep that even 200 of me, standing one on top of another, would not reach the top!

After the Grand Canyon, we visited the Hoover Dam. In damming up the Colorado River, the Hoover Dam created Lake Mead – which looked like a Clifford-sized water bowl to me!  Slurp!

Finally, we went to Las Vegas. I enjoyed walking up The Strip and seeing all the lights at the hotels. Unfortunately, not even the penthouse suites were big enough for me to sleep in. It didn’t matter, though, because Vegas never sleeps! I watched the outdoor shows, like the Fountains at Bellagio and the Volcano at Mirage, and had a great time.

I had a fun trip, but it’s good to be back in my own dog house! To see the other pictures from my trip, check out my Instagram at @CliffordTheBigRedDog!
