Celebrity chef heats up the kitchen in Math@Work: Culinary Arts webisode

Calling all foodies and math fanatics! Register today and tune in on 4/29 at 1pm EST for the Math@Work: Culinary Arts webisode. The Chew’s Carla Hall, along with the newest Top Chef, Nicholas Elmi will team up to show how critical math is for a successful career in culinary arts.

In the webisode three students from the Food and Finance High School will join Carla and Nick at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City. The students will be challenged to prepare a healthy meal that they think can easily be served in school cafeterias all over the country. In addition to cooking, each student must successfully solve a math problem as they prepare their course.

As students are expected to be college and career ready, the Math@Work web series helps make connections between math and the careers that students aspire to. Register today on Scholastic’s mathematics website and gain access to free lesson plans to pair with the webisode.
