Scholastic is looking for top-notch editors/writers with management capabilities for its elementary, middle, and high school classroom magazines. Topics include Current Events, Social Studies, English/Language Arts, Science, Math, and Art. The goal is to create visually compelling magazines filled with high-interest non-fiction content that connects to elementary, middle, and high school curricula and grabs the attention of students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reporting, writing, and editing stories and researching story ideas.
- Overseeing the planning, writing, editing, design, and layout of all components of magazines in print and digital formats, for student editions, teacher’s editions, and online skills pages, videos, and other digital components.
- Assigning stories to writers, both staff and freelance.
- The conception and execution of new departments.
- Collaborating with marketing staff on teacher research and promotion of the magazines.
- Working closely with the art department on all stories, covers, and digital components.
- Ongoing acquisition of teacher feedback to understand how teachers use the magazines and what motivates them to buy the magazines.
- Keeping abreast of school curricula, state and national standards, and trends and changes in education.

Product Development Associate, Scholastic Book Fairs
Scholastic Book Fairs is seeking a Product Development Associate to help create and design packaging and educational school products, including science kits, toys, school supplies, and other unique products for children from ages 5 to 10 years old. This position is based in the divisional headquarters in Lake Mary, FL.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the coordination and development for the designated products in accordance with standard operating procedures, including but not limited to design, prototyping, build and test activities,
- Development of book and packaging prototypes.
- 3D software design and output of 3D printed prototypes.
- Maintain/compile documentation for the following deliverables: specifications, including bill of materials, substances, CAS Numbers and ingredients.
- Collaborate with various personnel in design activities related to product development requirements.
- Communicate with the product team, customers, suppliers, manufacturing and quality departments with guidance from management.

Director of Field Operations, Scholastic Book Fairs
As part of a matrix organization reporting structure, partner with General Managers (GMs), the Field Vice President (FVP), and corporate Operations team, to direct and manage Branch Managers (BMs) and branch operations teams to achieve team and corporate goals. Position is considered senior field operations leader and will be a member of Scholastic Book Fairs Leadership Team. This position can be located in Northern or Southern California.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide training, direction, and performance coaching to branch managers and branch personnel.
- Support standardization of operational activities across the company to its fullest extent, utilizing best practices.
- Ensure branch operations provide and promote a safe working environment for all associates working in branch facilities, as well as operating company vehicles while delivering and returning book fairs.
- Audit facilities within assigned territory to assess the “health” of the branch operations, including personnel effectiveness, adherence to process standards, adherence to safety standards, and ability to meet stated branch goals related to improvement and financial metrics.
- Work with regional partners and Human Resources staff to ensure all required state and federal employment laws are followed in each branch location.
- Directly manage Production Planner position for assigned branches. Ensure production plans are delivered on time, achieve required customer service levels, and promote efficiency within the operation.

Executive Assistant, Consumer & Professional Publishing
The Executive Assistant supports two department Vice Presidents as well as their respective managers and field sales staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate calendars and meeting schedules for VP/manager(s) and team-members.
- Schedule conference rooms, audio-visual, conference facilities, and all items needed for all meetings.
- Organize travel, expense reports, special events, FedEx, and messenger/car services.
- Prepare PowerPoint presentations and Excel spreadsheets as needed.
- Meet and greet clients/visitors and direct them to the appropriate meeting and/or person.
- Attend meetings, take notes, and distribute agenda and documentation.

MATH 180 Senior Marketing Manager
The MATH 180 Senior Marketing Manager will be an integral part of the Scholastic Education marketing team and be responsible for driving marketing strategy and messaging for our MATH 180 program—the long awaited sister program to READ 180. In this exciting role with diverse responsibilities, you’ll drive product development efforts, build marketing campaigns, refine and develop messaging and brand strategy, and support our sales team with new creative marketing tools, promotions, and events.
Key Responsibilities:
- As a key member of the development team, drive ongoing development of our growing suite of math products.
- Collaborate with sales and design to develop and execute marketing campaigns across direct and indirect channels (advertising, conventions, catalogs, website, direct marketing initiatives, sales materials, and presentations).
- Train the sales force, implementation and Customer Service teams on the latest program information, messaging, and competitive intelligence.
- As the first year of implementation rolls out, build relationships with key users for marketing and research efforts.
- Collaborate with sales team to develop specific product presentation tools for the field to ensure deep selling expertise (sales presentations, brochures, price lists, etc.).
- Support the sales and service organizations as they communicate with customers.
- Act as a product manager by providing sales forecasts, managing promotional inventory, and updating existing marketing tools.
- Represent Scholastic Math at national conferences and events, including speaker proposals, exhibit design, messaging, and customer events.
The Inventory Supervisor is a key member of the team that is responsible for the inventory of Scholastic’s domestic operations. The role is also responsibility for the development and day to day management of 2 staff. In addition, there will be ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare Inventory cash flow and roll forward schedules.
- Prepare and record journal entries for the financial close.
- Maintain various Inventory Access databases and reconciliations.
- Prepare and review cost of products margin analysis for various divisions.
- Work with NY Finance for divisional forecasting purposes.
- Prepare and upload weekly/monthly invoice uploads for non-inventory vendors.
- Work with A/P to validate vendor statements.
- Freight and invoice processing.

Manager State & Local Tax, Finance
The Manager of State & Local Tax will lead the State & Local Tax function and be the primary interface with tax jurisdictions and their auditors. The individual will work with the VP of Tax and business leaders to help reduce the State and Local Tax effective tax rate and will work with accounting personnel to enhance and simplify State & Local Tax compliance. The position requires excellent technical research and communication skills for routine interaction with tax auditors and internal accounting personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Measure State and Local effective tax rate and reduce via tax planning and tax savings strategies.
- Calculate and remit State and Local income tax cash estimates.
- Research and consult on State & Local income tax matters.
- Interface with and defend State and Local income tax audits.
- Support Income Tax (FAS 109) accounting and preparation of 10Q, 10K filings.
- Review State and Local income tax compliance.
- Measure FIN 48 for State and Local income tax exposures.
