Books make great petzzz!

#BookPetzzz; noun.
Definition: the book you treasure most; your favorite story; the picture book you want to cuddle up with when you’re down; the novel you want to play with on a sunny day in the park.

The bestselling Fly Guy series has captivated kids and only continues to grow. With A Pet for Fly Guy, Tedd Arnold’s first picture book about Buzz and Fly Guy’s lovable friendship, a new audience of young readers can enjoy all that the colorful illustrations and hilarious text have to offer!

Fly Guy searches for the perfect pet in A Pet for Fly Guy; someone to love and cherish, someone to spend time with, and someone that will always be there for him. We won’t ruin the ending for you, but rest assured that Fly Guy walks off into the sunset with an unexpectedly perfect companion to inspire giggles from kids and parents alike.

To celebrate this sweet picture book, we’re taking the conventional idea of a pet and turning it on its head (or tail) with Books Make Great Petzzz! We can all agree that there’s nothing like curling up with a special story, and we want EVERYONE to know it! So, think of the book that you hold nearest to your heart – the one that you just want to pick up and hug before you reread it – and share it with us in the comments below! My #BookPetzzz is The Velveteen Rabbit written by Margery Williams and illustrated by William Nicholson. What’s yours?

We know that it’s hard to choose just one, so here’s a few others to inspire you, from some other “book pet” lovers at Scholastic:
