Abracadabra! It’s National Magic Week

“We’ve got magic to do – just for you!”

One of the many benefits of working at a place like Scholastic is encountering magical creatures and characters during your daily work routine.

No, really! Whether it is debating with your coworkers about who is the best character in the Harry Potter series or trying your best not to spoil the ending of A Snicker of Magic, you get to bond with fellow readers who embrace stories full of magic.

In celebration of this spell-binding week, I asked my fellow bloggers to list their favorite magicians, wizards, fairies and top magic-themed book to share with our readers. Be sure to share yours in the comments below!

My pick is The Chronicles of Narnia series. Imagine a world where you can have tea with a faun, get guidance from a talking lion and battle a witch all in one day?

Brittany: Joe Kavalier in The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Michael Chabon

Anne: The Blue Fairy in Pinocchio. She makes dreams come true, all while teaching valuable life lessons.

Alex: Matilda

Stephanie: Rainbow Magic: The Ocean Fairies: Stephanie the Starfish Fairy and Puppy Powers: A Wishbone Come True

Deimosa: My favorite story from The Serial Garden: The Complete Armitage Family Stories, by Joan Aiken is “Yes, But Today is Tuesday”.

Gina: It’s hard to not think of the Wicked Witches from the Oz series, especially the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch. Both were super powerful, and have endured over time to become two of the most ubiquitous witches in modern pop culture! (i.e. – Wicked, "Once Upon a Time," etc.)

Michael: I am actually mid-way through one of our newest books about magic- The Iron Trial by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare. It’s definitely a different take on a school for magic…

Megan K.: Prospero in "The Tempest" and Glinda in The Wizard of Oz
