2024 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Regional NYC Award Recipients’ Work to Be Exhibited at High Line Nine

This week, a selection of works of art and writing by New York City-based students that received top regional awards in this year’s Scholastic Art & Writing Awards will be on display at the High Line Nine Galleries, located in Chelsea’s premier gallery district in New York City.

This marks the first-ever time that High Line Nine Galleries will be hosting, in conjunction with the nonprofit Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, a Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Regional Gold Key Exhibition, highlighting tri-state artists and writers. This exhibition will showcase over 500 works by New York City-based students that received top regional awards in this year’s Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the country's longest-running and most prestigious award and recognition program for creative teens.

This year, students from all five boroughs in grades 7–12 entered more than 13,000 works in 28 categories to the New York City regional program of the Awards, representing nearly 300 schools. The exhibition at the High Line Nine will display original works in the Painting, Sculpture, Fashion, Photography, and Drawing & Illustration categories. Digital reproductions of all other works will be prominently showcased along with a reel featuring Film & Animation works.

Each piece of work featured within this special exhibition was eligible to receive national honors through a second round of judging, which can provide additional opportunities for exhibition and publication as well as access to scholarships.

“The Alliance is honored to partner with High Line Nine to showcase the work of New York City's extraordinary 2024 Scholastic Awards recipients. Every year, we are blown away by the city's creative teens, and this year was no exception,” said Christopher Wisniewski, Executive Director, Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. “These young artists have taken risks and shared a piece of themselves with us, and we can't wait for a wider audience to experience their incredible creativity.”

The exhibition will be on view from June 14–21, 2024, and is free and open to the public during regular gallery hours. To celebrate the student writers and artist whose work will be showcased, there will also be an opening reception for students, family members, educators, community members and the general public, hosted by the High Line Nine Gallery and Avenues: the World School, this Friday, June 14, starting at 4:00 pm with remarks, exhibition tours and more.
