My love of reading and encouragement from my late father who said that I would be successful in the field. He was right!

What is the one book you can read over and over again?

Please, Baby, Please by Spike Lee and Tonya Lewis Lee. This book is my niece’s all-time favorite read-aloud!

Which book character would you trade places with in a heartbeat?

Shuri from Black Panther.  The opportunity to create and test new technologies is so fascinating to me.

Who are you most starstruck by?

Nikole Hannah-Jones, my fellow red headed Aries sister.

What is your go-to fun fact about yourself?

I love watching old black 70’s sitcoms and can recite many of the lines from my favorite episodes.

What is a mind-boggling fact you read about recently?

The James Webb Space Telescope’s images of a recently revealed distant universe.

What is the one object you can’t live without at your library desk?

My Beyonce Fan. I am not your typical school librarian.

How have you pivoted professionally throughout the pandemic?

I’ve become far more creative and patient with students/teachers/parents.  Making the transition to multiple digital platforms has been challenging for all learners and I’ve implemented various methods/approaches for learners to feel comfortable with these platforms.

What is something new that you just tried?

Propagating Monstera plants….SUCCESS!!!

What is your best advice?

My late father was a middle school science teacher.  He said an educator must possess three things in order to be successful:  patience, knowledge of your subject matter, and a good sense of humor!
