You know it's been a busy week when OOMers submit 13 links for the In Our Feeds round-up. (And that's not counting the three I found....) Looks like we've got ya covered if you're looking for some weekend reads! Here are a few of this week's favorites:
- How do you hit the ground running? In this Fast Company piece (courtesy of Anne), 12 entrepreneurs share the best piece of advice a teacher ever gave them.
- Rain in the forecast for this weekend? Not to worry. This waterproof paper allows you to journal outdoors, even if it's rainy. (Great find, Nadia!)
- Nadia also sent over this lovely piece from Apartment Therapy on the joys of letter-writing. Bring back the pen pals!
- The real hot topic for In Our Feeds this week was—drumroll, please—books! (Total shocker, I know.) Both Stephanie and Mike sent me this BuzzFeed piece on 24 books you should read now, based on your high school favorites.
- Mike also came across a really cool piece from The Guardian about what we hear when we read, while Megan shared a Slate article on how the Internet has changed the way we read. (Proof: a Twitter account plans to tweet The Great Gatsby in its entirety over the course of five years.)
- In addition to the tweeting of classic novels, the digital age has brought about a slew of awesome inventions. Case in point: this library card that doubles as a debit card! (h/t Deimosa)
- Another must-read for bookworms: this piece that Deimosa found about the importance of public libraries, as shown through a series of beautiful photographs.
- In other news, The New York Times announced that they're re-vamping their bestseller lists, adding new lists. What do you think of the changes?
And speaking of popular books, here's how long it takes to read some of them. Already checked those titles off your list? Try this PBS quiz to see if you've read the 200 "best" American novels!
