"Let us remember: One book, one pen, one child, and one teacher can change the world." - Malala Yousafzai
Today is Thank a Teacher Day, part of Teacher Appreciation Week. It's a day to remember that teachers spend their days working to make sure students are learning and growing. In his letter to teachers, Scholastic Chairman Dick Robinson said, "You have chosen to spend each and every day helping your students discover themselves and the world. This is precious, invaluable work."
This year I began teaching at NYU one night a week, and my admiration and respect for teachers -- which I had assumed was already deeply cemented -- grew by leaps and bounds. Teachers are, simply put, amazing. It is hard work, made harder by many factors well outside the classroom, and I salute every person who makes the choice to dedicate their time to helping others learn.
Here's a video of some of our Top Teaching bloggers talking about their teaching mentors. Scholastic also has some beautiful inspirational posters available for download, and teachers can even get 100 free printables as a thank-you.

Thank you, teachers. Today and always.
