Scholastic has released the latest professional book from literacy specialists Stephanie Harvey and Annie Ward with educator co-authors Maggie Hoddinott and Suzanne Carroll: Intervention Reinvention: A Volume-Based Approach to Reading Success.
Expanding on the research, theory, and practice from Stephanie and Annie’s first book together, From Striving to Thriving, Intervention Reinvention helps educators of grades 2–8 amplify instruction with volume-based interventions and build student confidence through voluminous independent reading.
The book begins with a guide for foundational actions to increase reading volume, and then builds upon this with diagnostic questions, instructional options, and targeted practices to support voluminous independent reading.
Special features include a Volume Decision Tree that educators can use to effectively observe students and pinpoint instructional options to increase reading volume, practical and creative ideas for matching children with just-right books and providing student support to foster independent reading, as well as responsive teaching tools for adding volume-related goals to instructional plans.
