Election Day is almost near and kids in grades K–12 nationwide still have time to make their voices heard by casting their vote for President of the United States in the 2020 Scholastic Student Vote.

Kids have until Tuesday, October 27 to cast their votes.
The Scholastic Student Vote is a mock-election that has been allowing kids across the country to cast their vote for President of the United States since 1940. Since that time, the outcome has mirrored that of every general election except for just three: In 1948, students selected Thomas E. Dewey over Harry S. Truman; in 1960, students selected Richard M. Nixon over John F. Kennedy; and in 2016, students picked Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump.
Before casting their votes, kids can also explore the new free Scholastic Election 2020 website, which provides access to age-appropriate resources developed by the editors of Scholastic Classroom Magazines, including videos about the democratic process, quizzes, and activities, in addition to rigorously fact-checked candidate profiles and articles focused on issues that are at the center of this year’s election: pandemic response, racial justice, the economy, health care, climate change, education, immigration, and national security.
Students can also access original election content from Scholastic Kids Press, an award-winning team of Kid Reporters, ages 10–14, who are covering the issues that matter most to kids by interviewing voters, youth activists, scholars, volunteers, lawmakers, and candidates.
According to data from the Scholastic Teacher & Principal School Report: 2nd Edition, 92% of teachers agree that teaching students about the U.S. presidential election is an important way to help them become engaged and informed citizens. In a year that has been especially unlike any other, kids have a vital opportunity to learn about our country’s democratic process, learn how to exercise their rights, and become active and engaged citizens.
