The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Announce 2020 National Winners!

Today we announced 16 of the nation’s most creative, innovative and inspiring teens!

The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers is delighted to announce this year’s national award recipients of the 2020 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the nation’s longest-running and most esteemed recognition program for creative student artists and writers in grades 7-12!

A full list of national winners can be found here.

Within the Awards’ 29 categories—which include short story, fashion design, photography, memoir, printmaking, poetry, and novel writing —nearly 320,000 works of art and writing were submitted by students from every state in the nation for adjudication at the regional level this year.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have served as a launch pad for furthering student’s future success by the creativity and talent of millions of students, as well as encouraging children to express themselves through their craft. The Awards have also helped provide students access to scholarship programs and workshops, as well as the ability to have their work published and displayed in regional and national exhibitions. Ultimately, most of The Awards’ Alumni have gone on to do amazing things, as well as become major leaders in their respective fields, including: Tschabalala Self, Stephen King, Kay WalkingStick, Charles White, Joyce Carol Oates, and Andy Warhol.

We are very proud to announce the names of the 16 high school seniors who received the program’s highest national honor, the Gold Medal Portfolio, which includes a $10,000 scholarship!
