Earlier this month, we shared with you the details about our new summer reading campaign, the Scholastic Summer Read-a-Palooza. And today, we’re excited to announce that participating kids have officially reached 25 million minutes collectively in the Scholastic Read-a-Palooza Summer Reading Challenge – unlocking our first of three corporate book donations of the summer!
As part of the Scholastic Read-a-Palooza Summer Reading Give Back, kids participating in the Challenge can help unlock a giveaway of at least 200,000 books from Scholastic in collaboration with United Way. There are three major minute milestones over the course of the summer, and the more minutes kids collectively enter on the website, the faster they will unlock these donations.
- First donation: 25 million minutes – Reached on Wednesday, May 29, 2019!
- Second donation: 50 million minutes
- Third donation: 100 million minutes
We shared a gif on social media to celebrate!

As part of this donation, thousands of Scholastic books will soon be shipped to United Way locations across the country, where they’ll be distributed to families in need. These books include some of Scholastic’s most popular brands, including Clifford, Captain Underpants, and I Survived. Congratulations to thousands of readers, who just helped make a BIG difference.
Onto 50 million!
