Fall 2019 picture books to watch out for

Today, we launched the Scholastic Online Preview for Fall 2019! With presentations from over 30 authors and editors, these videos are the perfect introduction to key titles from our Fall season.

Over the next few weeks, we will be featuring new books by Alan Gratz, Maggie Stiefvater, Raina Telgemeier and Amy Sarig King! So stay tuned for more (and read more about an exciting contest at the bottom of this post!)

We are beginning with PICTURE BOOKS!  Here are the books featured in this section:

  • River by Elisha Cooper- Caldecott Honor winner Elisha Cooper invites readers to grab their oars and board a canoe down a river exploration filled with adventure and beauty. A breathtaking adventure as a traveler and her canoe trek down the Hudson River.
  • The Great Santa Stakeout by Betsy Bird; illustrated by Dan Santat - A delightfully devious Christmas story from beloved librarian Betsy Bird and Caldecott Medalist Dan Santat. Freddy Melcher is Santa's #1 Fan. There is one prize Freddy desperately wants: A photograph taken with Santa, fresh out of the chimney. Will Freddy get away with his delightfully devious scheme to outwit Santa Claus himself and capture the ultimate selfie?
  • I Am A Tiger by Karl Newson; illustrated by Ross Collins - When is a mouse not a mouse? When he's a tiger of course! This funny story is all about being who you want to be!
  • Love and the Rocking Chair by Leo and Diane Dillon– In their final collaboration, two-time Caldecott Medalists Leo and Diane Dillon celebrate the love we feel for our children in this touching, multi-generational story about the lasting power of family.

But the fun doesn’t end with the videos!
