The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers is pleased to announce the national award recipients of the 2019 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in grades 7–12!
A full list of national recipients can be found here.
Within the Awards’ 29 categories—which include poetry, photography, sculpture, humor, editorial cartoons, and video game design—340,000 works of art and writing were submitted by students from every state in the nation for adjudication at the regional level this year.
The Awards have helped foster the creativity and talent of millions of students across the United States. Alumni of the Awards have gone on to become leaders in their fields, including Andy Warhol, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Philip Pearlstein, and Sylvia Plath. More recently, Stephen King, Richard Linklater, Zac Posen, and Lena Dunham received Scholastic Art & Writing Awards as teens.
