Our 5 favorite Harry Potter moments of 2013

It was a big year for a little wizard! Here, we take a look back at our favorite Harry Potter moments of the year.

1. A new look for a classic series

2013 saw Scholastic reissue the U.S. trade paperback editions of the entire Harry Potter series, all with brand new cover art by Kazu Kibuishi! We revealed the first one, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, in February, and followed that throughout the year with big reveals at places like San Diego Comic Con, Book Expo America, and at a big celebration in The Scholastic Store in SoHo. You can see all the new Harry Potter covers here.

2. Penn Station pranking

A mini Harry clone wheeled his way through New York's Penn Station this year, asking strangers for help finding Platform 9 3/4. Hilarity ensued! This viral video is one of our favorite pranks of the year -- charming, clever, adorable.

3. Snail mail

The U.S.P.S. released Harry Potter stamps this year! Yes, they're images from the movies. But still. We rushed to our local post office and bought a few books!

4. J.K. Rowling rocks at predictions

A few weeks ago, Time Magazine rounded up all the neat things from the series that have now come true. Starbucks is selling butterbeer...an invisbility cloak is in the works...pots are now self-stirring...people are playing Quidditch. What will come true next?!

5. Even Snape loves a good wedding story

Themes of love run rampant in the series...so what better way to propose to a Harry Potter fan than with a themed, day-long scavenger hunt type of marriage proposal? We swooned at this video that made the rounds earlier this year. (Bonus: speaking of weddings, check out these amazing Harry Potter shoes that one bride wore! Wow!)

So there's our top five. What'd we miss?
