MasterCard teams up with Scholastic to provide STEM resources for classrooms

Scholastic and Mastercard have teamed up to help raise awareness of STEM-opportunities through in-class materials and a contest around innovation that will reach classrooms nationwide.

The free materials are based on Mastercard’s Girls4Tech program, which aims to provide schools and community organizations with resources to educate, inspire and equip young girls with the skills and confidence they need to envision themselves as future professionals within STEM fields.

Participating teachers will have access to lesson plans and hands-on demos related to algorithms, encryption, fraud detection, data analysis, digital convergence and more. Their students can also enter the Tech4Innovation Contest, which challenges grades 3-7 students to create solutions to real-world problems. Teachers can submit their students’ innovative ideas for a chance to win student and teacher prizes.

The contest is open through December 1. Click here for full rules.
