Product Owner, eCommerce

Scholastic is looking for an experienced eCommerce Product Owner who is passionate about creating and delivering an exceptional direct-to-consumer eCommerce experience targeting Scholastic’s 5 core constituents – Teachers, Administrators, Parents, Partners and Librarians.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Be the project lead for all things related to creating, maintaining, and improving the eCommerce storefront.

  • Be the Product Owner in an Agile/SCRUM-based development team, and vision holder for the UX and core experience of the product.

  • Own the product roadmap and prioritization of features and functionality. Drive and deliver the growth vision for the organization.

  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the organization to prioritize eCommerce roadmap. Proactively recommend and implement best practices and programs.

  • Lead cross functional/matrix teams to deliver on time and on budget.

  • Oversee and manage product roadmap and backlog.

Managing Editor, Parents Online

Bring your editorial talent to a website that focuses on helping parents guide their children on their learning journeys. This is the perfect opportunity for a creative, detail-oriented digital editor who’s equally adept at ideating and executing high-level content ideas and managing day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Work closely with Senior Editorial Director to define and drive editorial strategy and initiatives.

  • Support Senior Editorial Director to plan and meet product and business goals.

  • Help execute day-to-day editorial operations.

  • Along with Senior Editorial Director, manage Senior and Assistant Editors as well as freelance staff (designer, editors, bloggers).

  • Manage site editorial calendar and ensure publication of fresh, timely content that appeals to our consumer base of parents. 

  • Edit and oversee writing of copy, including blogs, articles and book lists from editorial staff, bloggers and freelance writers.

  • Ideate editorial content based on seasonal and relevant themes.

  • Source and manage freelance editorial contributors.

Senior Publicist

The Senior Publicist will work with both children’s and young adult book authors/illustrators with responsibility for implementing innovative publicity plans and campaigns for select titles and authors. 

Responsibilities: 

The Senior Publicist will be expected to work with authors, create comprehensive tour schedules, schedule travel and events, arrange media interviews, write press materials and pitch letters, research media contacts, fulfill review copy requests. Must have experience pitching national and local broadcast, print, and online media.

Director of Development, Alliance for Young Artists & Writers

The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers is seeking to hire a Director of Development with leadership skills to join our dynamic team. The Director of Development oversees all fundraising activities and initiatives for the Alliance—including corporate, foundation, institutional, and individual campaigns, annual fund campaigns, trusts management, endowment campaigns, in-kind donations, and special projects—in order to achieve annual budgeted fundraising goals and ensure that the Alliance’s relationships are nurtured to maximize philanthropic involvement. The Director of Development will also possess in-depth knowledge of the grants process. As a senior staff manager, the Director of Development works in close collaboration with the Executive Director (ED) and the Board of Director’s Executive team. 

How you can fit: 

  • A minimum of 5 years of broad and direct fundraising. A demonstrable track record raising major gifts and meeting fundraising goals, financial targets and deadlines.

  • Experience developing plans for organizational growth and managing budgets.

  • An energetic hands-on leader with experience managing staff at the manager level.

  • Demonstrable ability to manage and motivate Board members and volunteers and to cultivate meaningful relationships with donors and prospects.

  • Outstanding interpersonal and oral and written communications skills.

  • Computer literacy, with familiarity with fundraising software, and social media outreach.

  • Experience working for an arts/cultural institution preferred.

AEM Technical Lead

The AEM Technical Lead will be responsible for the design, development and support of product solutions for Scholastic that leverage the Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) platform.

This is a hands-on technical position that requires excellent technical design and development skills. In addition to being accountable for technology deliverables, the position will also play a prominent role in architectural design, agile project planning and guiding/mentoring other team members.

A successful candidate will have the following:

  • Experience architecting and providing hands on technical leadership for development of large scale Enterprise Content Management platforms 

  • Deep knowledge of Adobe Experience Manager including best practices for developing highly customizable templates. 

  • Experience with agile software development 

  • Track record of delivering scalable performant solutions as well as experience in performance tuning and optimization 

  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability with a commitment to delivering high quality software that balance technical and business goals

Scholastic Corporate Summer Internship Program

General Information & Requirements

  • Our summer internship program runs for 8 weeks. For 2018, dates are June 18th through August 10th. All intern positions are paid. (Housing and travel expenses are the responsibility of the interns).

  • Qualified candidates should be entering their junior or senior year of an accredited college or art school.

  • All students must be in good academic standing and have strong computer skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • All interns must be able to work a 35 hour week.
