Hanukkah begins at sundown on December 12. (Hey, that's today!) We have plenty of book lists and activities for families to help celebrate this special time of year.
Hanukkah Books
If you're looking for a themed book, you're in luck: Scholastic has lots of those, including a favorite in my house, Clifford Celebrates Hanukkah. (My kids are also fond of Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel! by Shahar Kober, as my baby in particular enjoys trying to eat dreidels, so it all works out.) Scholastic Parents has additional Hanukkah booklists for the littlest of readers, and for readers of all ages.
Hanukkah Activities for Kids
Kids can be wild little creatures this time of year, what with all the holiday treats, family visits, and the lure of exciting presents. (Ask me how I know this!) One thing that's guaranteed to settle my three-year-old down: coloring and crafts. Here's a printable featuring the How Do Dinosaurs gang as they blow out the Menorah candles, and here's one that's perfect for coloring. Print them out, grab some crayons, and earn yourself a few minutes of silence!
