This year, kids read over 138 million minutes in the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge! We announced the Best in State winners back on September 27 and since then, we've received so many great photos and videos from the winning schools' celebrations! We put together a collection of some of them.
Arizona's American Leadership Academy Anthem South K-6 put together an amazing video of their huge celebration! (This is their second year as the top school in Arizona, with 1,211,877 reading minutes.)
Delaware's Las Américas ASPIRA Academy held an assembly where they honored top readers. Delaware Chief Academic Officer/Associate Secretary of Education Michael S. Watson also attended! (Their school read 296,341 minutes.)
Michigan's Daisy Brook Elementary School held a camping-themed celebration in honor of this year's "Happy Camper" theme... and their 1,687,149 minutes!
Clifford the Big Red Dog stopped by Minnesota's Maranatha Christian Academy to help them celebrate! (They read 497,566 minutes this summer.)
New Jersey's Newell Elementary School held an assembly where they celebrated their honor with a Jersey classic, Italian ice (also known in some parts as water ice)! (They were also one of the 10 schools/organizations to read over 1 million minutes this year! They read 1,582,783 total.)
Pennsylvania's Bridge Valley Elementary School celebrated their 1,784,986 minutes with a superhero-themed assembly (and Clifford)!
Louisiana's Lisa Park Elementary School was even featured on their local news! Wendy Jeffcoat, the school's Library Media Specialist, chatted with KFOL/KJUN TV about their participation in the Challenge. (They read a whopping 6,101,119 minutes!)
