We are thrilled to report that Scholastic Teacher magazine has received two Jesse H. Neal Awards for Business Journalism, the most prestigious editorial honors in the field of specialized journalism.
Competing against over 600 entries across 19 categories, Scholastic Teacher won Best Instructional Content for the articles "Girls Rock STEM," "Conquering Math Anxiety," and "Crowd-Sourced Science."
Teacher also won Best Overall Art Direction for what Editor-in -hief Tara Welty calls Creative Director Tannaz Fassihi's "fabulous design work on the magazine."
Speaking of Teacher's success, Welty emphasizes the importance of her team's collaboration with their team of teacher-advisors:
"My fabulous team lives and breathes our mission to celebrate and support teachers. We’re delighted for the recognition of our work by the Neal Awards and certainly share the honor with the amazing, dedicated teachers who inspire us daily and make us look good by sharing their innovative teaching ideas."
It was just last fall that Instructor magazine re-launched as Scholastic Teacher, and under Welty's leadership the magazine remains engaging, relevant and useful to teachers, but now has an updated look, feel, and name. (The new name came from a survey of Schlastic Classroom Magazines' 1,400 teacher-advisors, 80% of whom preferred Scholastic Teacher!)
Congratulations to Scholastic Teacher! (For a complete list of winners, and to find out more information about the awards, click here.)
