What a weekend!
At Universal Studios in Orlando, thousands and thousands of Harry Potter fans gathered for the third annual Celebration of Harry Potter. The Scholastic booth in the Expo center was THE place to be, as fans signed the Muggle Wall (even Katie Leung, who plays Cho Chang in the films, signed!) to express what Harry Potter means to them, and colored in our Harry Potter Coloring Wall.We gave out posters featuring artwork from the new illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, bookmarks, and coloring sheets. We met our pen pals. (One young reader told us he's read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 13 times in the past year alone...so much that his book fell apart!) (We happily replaced his copy!)
We saw costumes that looked like they belonged in the films, they were so intricate and clever. We saw entire families dressed up as wizards. We heard from readers who met their best friends because of the books. We heard about the new wizarding schools from Pottermore.
And everywhere, all weekend, we heard from readers about how the books have changed their lives.
