Summer reading: #MinuteManiaMonth begins

As summer comes to a close and kids are getting ready to return to school, we want to ensure that every child’s summer reading minutes count toward the 2015 Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge World Record. Starting today, we are launching MINUTE MANIA MONTH (*cue happy dancing and confetti*). It’s a chance for all kids to log their reading minutes from the ENTIRE summer.

Throughout Minute Mania Month, you and your kids (or students) will have the chance to:

  • Kids can click back through the past weekly logs and easily add minutes they forgot to enter over the summer. Kids can earn more virtual rewards!
  • Log more minutes during the last days of summer for a chance to have your kid’s school featured in the 2016 Scholastic Book of World Records,and/or win a school visit from authors Michael Northrop or Varian Johnson.
  • Help Scholastic set a new reading World Record! We need your help to beat the 2014 record of 304,749,681 minutes.
  • Help their school earn recognition as “Top School” in your state.

And don’t forget, parents:  Enter the weekly sweepstakes to win prizes and get daily tips, and watch videos on easy ways to keep your kids reading.

Minute Mania Month runs from August 4th - September 4th at www.scholastic.com/summer. If your children have been tracking their summer reading minutes on paper or using another tracking system, now is their chance to log all minutes and help their school earn top place in the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge.
